Home Party Plan & Direct Sales – What does it mean?

If you are doing research on the Internet for a home based business, you may have come across the
words ‘Home Party Plan, Direct Sales, Direct Selling, Ground Floor and Independent Consultant’ quite
a few times.   They sound interesting but what do they really mean.





Home Party Plan involves selling products directly to the consumer through home parties.   Home Party
Plan Companies recruit people (mainly women) to sell their products for them (through home parties),
as an
Independent Consultant.  As an Independent Consultant, you are self employed.  You are your
own business.   Many of these companies like to say ‘you are in business for yourself not by yourself’.
Depending on which company you sign with, determines what you receive and the rules and
regulations you need to follow.  

A
Home Party, also known as a Product Party, is when an Independent Consultant comes in to a
person’s home (the hostess) and promotes / sells their products.  Usually during this time, games are
played and there is food to eat.   The hostess can earn free products and discounts for holding a
Product Party in her home.

The terms Home Party Plan and
Direct Sales / Direct Selling are sometimes used
interchangeable because they both involve selling
directly to the consumer by independent salespeople
(Independent Consultants). And their products and
services are sold through face to face interactions
(Home Party / Product Party).

When a company advertises a business opportunity
as
Ground Floor, it means becoming part of the
business at first stage or at the beginning.   Many
people like this option because there are not a lot
of consultants selling the product. They have an
opportunity to sell something new and many
believe it gives them the potential to grow a sales
team quicker.
